Trump’s 30-day emergency control over the D.C. police expired on September 10, but federal officers, immigration enforcement and more than 2,300 troops — mostly from the D.C. guard — continue to patrol the city. The Washington Post reported that the guard was “picking up the slack” after the National Park Service began experiencing staffing shortages due to Trump administration budget cuts. The resolution, which passed unanimously, advises the federal government to properly fund the National Park Service and remove federal agents and military forces from D.C. neighborhoods. GW’s campus plan is set to expire in 2027, 20 years after D.C. zoning authorities approved their current plan in 2007.
