Students were forced to relocate from their rooms after a triggered sprinkler caused water damage in Amsterdam Hall Sunday night. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a triggered sprinkler on the seventh floor of Amsterdam Hall, causing fire alarms to activate and the building to be evacuated for about three hours Sunday. A University spokesperson said “several rooms” were impacted by water damage caused by the sprinklers and repairs for affected rooms are scheduled for this Friday. The email sent to residents stated residents with affected rooms received communication and if residents who did not receive a communication noticed an issue with their room, they should submit a FixIt request. “The fire alarm was activated due to a sprinkler head anticipated on the seventh floor,” an email sent to residents stated.
