To the editor:September is National Campus Safety Awareness Month — a time to spotlight safety and security on college campuses nationwide. As the academic year begins, UCAN encourages students and community members to be active bystanders and help create a safe, respectful environment for all. While not directly involved, bystanders have the power to speak up, intervene, or seek help. UCAN promotes a culture of accountability, where community members are empowered to act without causing further harm. UCAN’s next meeting will be on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025 at noon at the Alexandria Police Department front training room.
