ALEXANDRIA — At its Monday, Sept. 22 meeting, the Alexandria City Council closed the last part of the meeting to discuss negotiations with law enforcement labor unions. ADVERTISEMENTBoth bargaining units are represented by Law Enforcement Labor Services, Inc. (LELS), and they are subject to labor agreements that expire December 31, 2025. A written record of all people present at the closed meeting must be available to the public after the closed meeting. The closed meeting must be tape-recorded. The recording must be kept for two years after the contract is signed, and it becomes public after all labor agreements are signed by the city council for the current budget period.
