In an editorial, Jersey City Board of Education Sumit “Sam” Salia outlines what he would bring to the school board if elected in the non-partisan November 4th race. For too long, school board meetings have failed to deliver measurable results. Most troubling is that, despite pushing our district’s budget past one billion dollars, student graduation readiness has not improved. They deserve a Board of Education that models professionalism, demands facts, and focuses on solving real problems: student achievement, readiness, safety, and infrastructure. Jersey City’s children deserve a board that works as hard for their future as parents do for their families.
