In what appeared to be a rare tactic employed in robberies, three Pakistani nationals have been arrested for allegedly robbing a lorry driver of Rs.90,000 after rendering him unconscious using a chemical-laced Rs. Police said the suspects are believed to be involved in organised money laundering operations while residing in the country on tourist visas. Further tracking using the vehicle’s GPS system it was found that the car had travelled to the Thihagoda area on September 21. Acting on this intelligence, the Peradeniya Police coordinated with the Thihagoda Police to locate and arrest the suspects along with the vehicle. The three Pakistani nationals were subsequently handed over to the Peradeniya Police and produced before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court.
