The feud started, Forsyth County Assistant District Attorney Ben White said, when Bracamontes accused Rodriguez of stealing a CD. The men had threatened to kill each other, and Rodriguez said that at least a year before the fatal shooting, Bracamontes had physically assaulted him. On the day of the shooting, Rodriguez was at the house of a neighbor, Alma Prudente, hanging out and drinking beer, White said. Prudente told Winston-Salem police that when Rodriguez came out of the house, he told Bracamontes, “Tiger, I’m going to kill you,” according to White. As he sat in a patrol car equipped with a camera and audio recording device, Rodriguez continued talking, as though to Bracamontes, White said.
