UPDP presidential candidate, Mr Twalib Kadege, has pledged that, if elected in the 2025 General Election, the hand hoe will be eliminated. He also promised to address long-standing conflicts between farmers and livestock keepers by establishing dedicated zones, preventing interaction, and providing livestock keepers with appropriate infrastructure, including water ponds. He said the party manifesto centres on economic empowerment, including helping farmers move beyond hand-hoe agriculture. On farmer-livestock keeper disputes, he said the manifesto provides a clear solution: separate zones for livestock keepers, away from farmers, equipped with necessary facilities. These zones will not allow farmers to disturb livestock keepers, regardless of soil fertility.
