I don’t know what caused this assassination or other successful and unsuccessful attempts at assassination. However, one such possibility is what is known as “stochastic terrorism.” That is when so many of our nation’s leaders, state leaders, news outlets and others state so many negative things about someone or a group of people that it can elicit lone wolf as well as group attacks on others. The verbal vitriol that spills out of some of our national and state leaders can be all that is needed for some people to devise plans at solving the problem by taking them out. These leaders know that this can happen and that is why they are saying it. Especially when the words are having war with a person or group of people regardless of the side.
