BELFIELD — Juniors and seniors at Belfield High School are fundraising to help pay for their March trip to Washington, D.C., through the Close Up Foundation. ADVERTISEMENTKelli Kessel, a librarian and social studies teacher at Belfield Public Schools, founded the club at Belfield High. “I think it's an important experience to offer our students, them getting to kind of understand their role in our government while in D.C. I think it's pretty special.”While in Washington, students will tour the Capitol building, meet a North Dakota’s congressional representative, visit the Smithsonian Institution and see monuments to war veterans and important American historical figures. While in Washington, Nelson said she was looking forward to learning more about Congress owing to her experiences in Student Congress at Belfield High School.
