The gas explosion that occurred in Preston’s basement levelled his home and killed his neighbour, David Gould, who was in his bedroom at the time. Preston was sentenced two months of house arrest for both counts, with permission from a supervisor to leave for medical appointments related to injuries sustained in the incident. Preston may serve his house arrest at a relative’s home in Whitehorse or at his Vancouver address registered with his probation supervisor, the court heard. She recommended two months to be served consecutively under house arrest conditions.
