According to LendingTree, in tax year 2023, Americans filed 487,990 returns claiming the new electric vehicle tax credit, which totaled $3.3 billion, and filed 28,180 returns for the pre-owned EV credit totaling $95.6 million. In regard to states that filed the most returns claiming used EV tax credits, Florida ranked fourth with 1,460, or 5.2%LendingTree says that with the expiration of the EV tax credit, Floridians could lose $201.4 million over a year.
