Woman accused of exploiting elderly as accountant arrested on 42 fraud charges
[]
NBC 6 South Florida
A woman was arrested on dozens of fraud charges for allegedly exploiting the elderly while working as an accounting contractor in Lauderhill.
Ammie Padilla, 53, was an accountant subcontracted by Elder Solutions, prosecutors said at her bond court hearing on Saturday, where she allegedly managed the victims' funds and even held power of attorney for one of them.
Judge Betsy Benson set Padilla's bond at $210,000 with strict conditions, including GPS-monitored house arrest, no contact with victims and proof her bond money isn’t from illicit sources.
Detectives are urging any other possible victims to come forward.
NBC6 is working to learn more about how Padilla allegedly defrauded the victims.
