Two families were displaced after a fire at a Hallandale Beach home early Tuesday, according to Broward Sheriff's Office Fire Rescue. It happened at around 2:25 a.m., after someone called 911 about smoke coming from the roof of a single-family home at 171 Southwest 11th Avenue. All residents were able to evacuate, but two families were displaced. "The fire was successfully extinguished within 15 minutes and was contained to a single room, sparing the remainder of the home from significant damage," fire rescue said. The Red Cross is providing assistance to the affected families and the State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
