If you thought sexual assault wasn’t happening before this year you’re absolutely insane. Same with assaults and harassment, they have been happening every year for probably over 100 years on this campus. This event was an absolute tragedy and I feel so awful for Chase and his family and friends. I do not discredit the people who have said they’ve experienced these things, but I do wonder why no police reports have been filed, or why no videos or photos have been released. I live extremely close (within one block) to where the shooting happened and I have not seen a single thing. This event was a tragedy and has everyone understandably shook up, but these rumors are not helping those of us in the surrounding area, they are panicking us. Of course we are all be cautious, but spreading false information is not helpful. But if you think the crime on campus started with president Johnson you’re insane. What about Reagan Tokes? Or the shooting at McDonalds last year? Or the event that happened last year where a girl woke up to a man inside her room at 2 am? Or the attack that happened a few years back where a student killed/wounded multiple other students ON CAMPUS. And that doesn’t even take into account the thousands of unreported incidences of sexual assault that occur on every campus. This campus has always been dangerous, it’s unfair to say that Johnson has made it that way. What did she do that contributed to any of this?
