U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Maryland, and Iowa congressional candidates took time Saturday at the Polk County Democrats’ Steak Fry to condemn political violence in the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s killing in Utah. “The answer cannot be more violence,” Van Hollen said. And sadly, the president is using this moment not to unite America against political violence, but to engage in finger pointing. Van Hollen criticized New York Democrats for not supporting Mamdani, who is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. “That kind of spineless politics is what people are sick of,” Van Hollen said.
