The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has appointed popular Nigerian Economist Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as the new seventh Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Dr. Iweala is the first woman and first African to serve the position of the Director-General at the WTO. Previously, Dr. Iweala has served as two times Nigerian Minister of Finance from 2003-2006 and 2011-2015 and a Foreign Minister in 2006. Dr. Iweala has further spent more than 25 years at the World Bank as a development economist rising to the positions of Managing Director and Operations.
