The Chicago Triathlon by Supertri, held Aug. 22-24, drew more than 8,000 athletes to the lakefront, cementing its status as the largest triathlon in North America and a global model for inclusivity. “Chicago has always had a strong triathlon culture, but we’ve made it a priority to open doors for new audiences,” D’hulst explained. Supertri also prioritized showcasing elite athletes for the second year, continuing its professional Supertri League race alongside the mass-participation events. “Chicago is already a global destination, and the triathlon’s unique city-center course makes it a true bucket-list race,” D’hulst said. “If we succeed in all three, Chicago has the potential to become the largest triathlon in the world," he added.
