The French nuclear company inaugurated a new operations base in India days ahead of the second meeting of a bilateral nuclear energy task force which saw the two countries reaffirm their continuing engagement in emerging technologies such as small modular reactors. Framatome said its new base in Navi Mumbai underscores its strategic commitment to strengthening its presence in India and supporting India's goal of 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047. We are delighted to expand our presence in the country as it embarks on a new phase of nuclear energy development," CEO Grégoire Ponchon said. "During the meeting, both sides undertook a comprehensive review of the progress made over the past year through various meetings and consultations. They reaffirmed the importance of engagement in emerging technologies like Small and Advanced Modular Reactors (SMRs/AMRs), as articulated by the Declaration of Intent on SMRs and AMRs signed in February 2025," India's Ministry of External Affairs said.
