Christendom to Welcome Author Nadya Williams and Sister Dede Byrne for Guest LecturesChristendom’s Department of History and Graduate School of Theology will both welcome guest speakers to campus this September, with the History Department hosting professor and author Nadya Williams on September 10 and the Graduate School welcoming Sister Deirdre (Dede) Byrne, P.O.S.C., and Leisa Maria Carzon, Ph.D., on September 15. Williams will present a talk based on her recently published book Mothers, Children, and the Body Politic, while Sister Dede and Carzon will participate in a panel discussion following an exclusive viewing of the acclaimed documentary No Mercy: The Catholic Culture of Death. The Graduate School’s event will be held at St. Kilian’s Cafe on September 15, from 7–9:00 p.m., and will feature Sister Dede and Carzon, author of the acclaimed biography of Sister Dede, Sister, Soldier, Surgeon. Sister Dede is known for her work across military, medical, and religious spheres, having served as an Army colonel, surgeon, and sister of the Little Workers of the Sacred Hearts. Leisa Maria Carzon, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of education and Catholic School Leadership Graduate Program director, a national executive with Right for America, and president of Plymouth Right to Life.
