Patrick Reilly, president of the Cardinal Newman Society, urged families at Christendom College’s recent Open House event to embrace truly Catholic education, stressing that only the union of faith and reason can form the whole person. Reilly, the father of a Christendom graduate, spoke at length with families during the event, praising the college as a model for other colleges to follow. In his talk, Reilly warned about the dangers of secular education, arguing that it is not simply a weaker alternative to Catholic education but a distortion that deprives students of truth and authentic formation. The grace that is provided through those things is magnificent, and you see the joy that we see…at Christendom. And so, education is actually improved by the grace that comes to us through prayer and the sacraments.”
