Government greenwashes the biggest polluter: AgribusinessWhich brings us to the problem with the current New Zealand government climate policy.
He Waka Eke Noa was a proposal from agribusiness for a joint government-agribusiness initiative looking at pricing agribusiness climate pollution.
Much of the government’s climate policy focus in the last five years has been on building an elaborate climate bureaucratic structure.
These structures and processes do look good but they don’t cut emissions – only regulations and policies that cut emissions actually cut emissions.
The government has done some good stuff on climate, but on the really big and difficult climate policy issues they are greenwashing.
