FIVE trees will be felled across the district as maintenance work begins. Following tree inspections by Stratford District Council, essential work will be carried out on 20 trees in public open spaces in Stratford, Alcester and Shipston from now until the end of March 2026. While the likelihood of injury from trees is very low, many trees in the district grow in parks or next to footpaths, where falling branches could pose a serious risk. All trees removed will be replaced in due course, as part of SDC’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing the district’s green spaces. SDC’s environment spokesperson Coun Lorraine Grocott said: “We understand how much our residents value the trees and green spaces in our district.
