A FORMER junior accountant from Leamington has been jailed after pocketing £180,000 in a Covid claim fraud. Daniel Jee, submitted 49 false Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and Self-Employment Income Support Scheme claims over an 18-month period from March 2020. The now 32-year-old targeted clients of the Exeter-based accountancy firm he worked at, and used their details to submit false claims. He used the details of ten businesses and two elderly clients to submit claims totalling £230,369, £179,218 of which was paid to Jee. Jee was caught after HMRC questioned some of the claims and the firm he worked for launched an internal investigation.
