The government has issued a strong statement expressing deep concern over recent actions by the Government of Israel, which it views as a “blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the State of Qatar.”The statement, released on Wednesday, asserts that Israel’s actions contravene the principles of the United Nations Charter and breach established norms of international law. The Namibian government specifically highlighted Qatar’s “sustained and commendable efforts” as a mediator and said it was “deeply regrettable that these diplomatic efforts have been met with actions that undermine its sovereignty.”Namibia’s position is rooted in its constitutional principles, which advocate for the peaceful resolution of international disputes. The government reaffirmed its belief that “no nation has the right to violate the territorial integrity and sovereignty of another.”In a broader context, the statement advocates for a “just and lasting solution to the long-standing conflict in the Middle East.” It stressed that such a resolution can only be achieved through “genuine negotiations that address the legitimate concerns of all parties and uphold the principles of justice, equality, and mutual respect.”This strong stance is consistent with Namibia’s historical foreign policy, which has often supported the Palestinian cause and called for adherence to international law.
