Namibia and China celebrated a significant milestone last week on Friday, commemorating the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and the 76th anniversary of the founding of China. The dual celebrations were attended by high-ranking officials from both nations, including Namibian Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Jenelly Matundu, and Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, Zhao Weiping. China has also been a long-standing key trading partner and the largest source of foreign direct investment for Namibia. China has provided numerous scholarships to Namibian students, and cultural institutions like the Confucius Institute and the newly opened Hoachanas library have strengthened educational ties. He described the bilateral ties as a model of brotherly relationship among developing countries and a shining example of South-South cooperation.”
