The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT), in partnership with the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), officially launched the new Namibian Map of Ecosystems on Thursday.
The comprehensive map is a strategic tool designed to guide sustainable development and conservation efforts across the country.
Indileni Daniel, Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, emphasized the importance of the map.
“This Map is more than a scientific product; it is a strategic tool, which underpins Namibia’s National Biodiversity Action Plan (NAP) for 2025 and directly supports Target 3 commitment of the global biodiversity framework,” she said.
The project meanwhile was a collaboration with various national and international partners, including the South African National Biodiversity Institute, with funding from the French Development Agency and the French Facility for Global Environment .
