Local digital defences stretched as cyber incidents spike

The Namibia Cyber Security Incident Response Team (NAM-CSIRT) has released its second quarterly report for 2025, revealing a significant increase in cyber threats and vulnerabilities across the country.
The report also recorded a sharp 224% increase in cyber events, with 843,490 incidents reported.
Nghikembua described the initiative as an “essential advancement for Namibia’s digital transformation journey,” emphasizing NAM-CSIRT’s vital role in protecting the nation’s critical information infrastructure from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
The report also drew attention to cyberbullying, described as a growing threat in Namibia’s digital age.
