A recent study by TransUnion reveals that a majority of Namibian consumers are feeling optimistic about their finances for the coming year, despite facing significant financial setbacks. The TransUnion Consumer Pulse Study for Q2 2025 found that more than seven in ten Namibians (71%) are optimistic about their household finances, with 78% expecting their income to increase in the next 12 months. Thirty percent of respondents reported losing jobs, a five-percentage-point increase from the same period in 2024. In terms of financial behaviour, 25% of consumers paid down debt faster, and 23% saved more in an emergency fund. “Consumers’ sentiment about access to credit highlights a gap between the importance of credit access and consumer confidence, pointing to a need for more inclusive lending,” said Enslin.
