I could never understand that "Do you think .....?" lead - it seems based somehow on a defined assumption about something 'waiting to get out, here's the key', because somehow this is what the interviewer thinks? I've thought something along the lines of "Would or wouldn't you agree with the idea floated by some that .....?" would be better and open the opportunity to expand on why or not.
