Morocco’s National Defense Administration, India’s Ministry of Defense, and TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) cut the ribbon on TATA Advanced Systems Morocco’s (TASM) new factory in Berrechid on Tuesday to produce WhAP 8×8 armored combat vehicles, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported. Established under an investment agreement signed in September 2024, the factory is part of a partnership to strengthen Morocco’s industrial capacity in defense. The factory will initially be using 35% locally sourced components, with plans to raise this to 50% through supplier development and workforce training programs. It will also provide Moroccan talent with training, career development, and experience in advanced defense vehicle production and maintenance. Equipped with modern infrastructure, TASM will act as a regional export hub for WhAP 8×8 vehicles, particularly for African markets.
