Comments for KWXX – Hilo, HI
Hawaii State Department of Health has provided more detail about known COVID-19 cases in the state, as well as reporting the first death from COVID-19 in the state, an O’ahu adult with multiple underlying conditions who died March 20.
As of March 23, 2020 at noon, there were 77 total presumptive or positive COVID-19 cases in Hawaii.
“Presumptive” means the individual has tested positive at a private lab and the State DOH is confirming via their own lab or through the CDC.
Travel or contact with a traveler is the risk factor in 47 cases, and only one case has no travel history.
Please note, that as the number of cases rises daily it may take health professionals longer to investigate possible sources for individual cases.
