Several local stores have set special hours aside for kupuna shopping. Costco, Kona: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., kupuna 60 years or older may enter. Costco manager stressed that only kupuna, not younger family members, may enter, though if a kupuna has a caregiver, they will be able to accompany the member. Several other stores are either requiring IDs or just asking people to respect the kupuna special shopping hours.
