Expected to be the frightening finale to the series, “The Conjuring: Last Rites” was a disappointment, including a poorly-written script and a multitude of cliches. Earlier this week, I attended an early showing hoping to experience the thrill “The Conjuring” movie series has brought to its fans for over a decade. I went with a friend of mine who also enjoys horror movies — we both agreed this was the worst film in the franchise. Having lower expectations for the movie would make it a better experience, along with watching all of the previous films beforehand. Instead of preparing for a scary movie, viewers should get ready to laugh and have their popcorn close at hand.
