Experts Criticise Gangata for Remarks Contradicting Mutharika’s Unity Vision

Published on November 17, 2025 at 6:00 PM by Edgar NaithaDemocratic Progressive Party (DPP) Central Region Deputy Leader and Minister of State, Alfred Gangata, has come under fire from political and governance experts for remarks seen as contradicting President Peter Mutharika’s vision for unity.
Speaking at a rally at Chilimampunga Ground in Lilongwe on Sunday, Gangata said DPP members who “worked hard” to return the party to power should be considered for government positions.
Another analyst, Chimwemwe Tsitsi, said Gangata should remember that public resources come from all taxpayers regardless of party or ethnicity.
Tsitsi also said issues of appointments should be discussed “behind closed doors” with the President rather than at political rallies.
Meanwhile, HRCC chairperson Robert Mkwezalamba urged Gangata to “tame his tongue,” saying he hopes the DPP’s disciplinary structures “will counsel Honourable Gangata.”Subscribe to our Youtube Channel:
