Marjorie Taylor Greene sees the lightEditor: The recent mea culpa from U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has caught my attention and given me pause. After being a loyal Republican for 40 years, then turning away because of my inability to support Trump’s abuses of trust and power any further, seeing someone of her stature questioning her actions is refreshing. Though she says she continues to support the president, her regret about partaking in the “knives-out” politics signals hope that civility may be making a comeback. For me, it was the Jan. 6 attempt at strong-arming our democratic process that made me realize that Trump’s words were more than words; they are sacred utterances to the true believers. I hope that she continues to choose light over darkness and maybe, just maybe, she will see the bigger picture, like the damage being done to the U.S. Constitution under a second Trump term.
