Major stock indexes edged lower to begin the week, which will see AI darling Nvidia and retail giants Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, and Target report quarterly results, as well as the release of the September jobs report delayed because of the U.S. government shutdown. The Nasdaq pulled back 0.1% after the tech-heavy index fell 0.5% last week, its second straight weekly decline. The benchmark S&P 500 and blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average were down 0.2% after both indexes posted weekly gains. Investors will be paying close attention to Nvidia (NVDA) this week as the world's most valuable company reports its quarterly earnings on Wednesday. Nvidia shares were down 1.3%.
