NYPD Police officer shot in face, suspect killed in Brownsville apartmentBROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A suspect was killed and an NYPD officer was shot in the face when officials say the suspect opened fire at police responding to a homicide in Brooklyn Monday morning. It's believed he was shot in the lobby and then stumbled out to the sidewalk where he died. At 7:45 a.m. officers approached a first floor apartment where the suspect opened the door and fired at officers. The officer was shot with birdshot pellets from a shotgun. The officer was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital in the back of a police cruiser, just blocks away from the shooting scene, in stable condition.
