In a major political development in Azad Kashmir, the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq has succeeded, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore elected as the region’s 16th Prime Minister with a strong majority. With 27 votes required for victory, he won comfortably and became the 16th Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir. Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, who was elected as Prime Minister in April 2023 with 48 votes, chose to face the no-confidence motion instead of resigning. The newly elected Prime Minister, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, is expected to take oath of office tomorrow. Rathore will be the fourth Prime Minister of the current assembly.
