Now a hoard believed to have been part of a supply of weapons for Bonnie Prince Charlie has been found in the Highlands of Scotland. A group of amateur archaeologists made the discovery near a ruined croft house in rural Lochaber. The hoard includes more than 200 musket balls, gold and silver coins, and gilt buttons. The find is believed to have been part of an arms shipment that landed in Lochaber a fortnight after Bonnie Prince Charlie’s defeat at Culloden. It was probably sent by France, which supported the Stuarts and sheltered the prince before and after the battle.
