Words, thoughts, images from Alan DearlingAnn Hamilton at Salts Mill: We Will SingThis set of installations is wonderfully thought-provoking. These sounds echo and bounce around the massive empty mill space creating almost Gregorian monk-like humming, whistling and chanting voices. The recordings are then replayed in a second space from a series of linked turntables, located around a gallery loft space. Sounds and words, singing of: “We Will Sing”, come at the visitor from all angles and in strange sequences. Hockney refers to his style as ‘photographic drawing.’ A bright, highly lit scene of a pond and farm building.
