DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The proclamation of Gabriela Women Party-list set by Comelec to meet the required 20% of the House seat for party-lists comes two weeks after Duterte Youth’s registration was canceled. Duterte Youth, which professed to support the “strongman” rule of Duterte, followed their “idol” in red-tagging Gabriela and its allied Makabayan party-lists no end, alleging them as fronts of communist party intend to destabilize the Duterte government, which the Makabayan party-lists, has refuted all these allegations. There are more serious offenses that the Comelec pointed out against Duterte Youth. Contrast that to the other youth party-list that they maligned, Kabataan Party-list, which authored 32 laws for the benefit of the youth and marginalized sectors. Duterte Youth’s disqualification must also lead to scrutiny of the party-list system.
