Glad to see that the proposal would look to a rail/trail combination, something which is quite common in the United States as opposed to an all or nothing for either mode. Quite unfortunate that Chelsea opted to remove the tracks as opposed to developing a trail adjacent to the rail line and encouraging the resumption of the steam tourist train which was a proven winner in terms of patronage (50,000 passengers annually), employment (100 full and part time jobs) and economic spin off ($10 million annually). As Mr. Ivay sees the rail infra-structure needed revitalization - for sure if a proper commuter rail system is developed - so maybe rail removal is a blessing in disguise if a way can be found to combine rail and trail on this scenic route.
