Only she found herself frustrated at “what’s allowed in the recycle bin versus what is actually recycled.”“So I’ve been focusing on what we could do that’s more sustainable than just recycling,” Allison explained. The festival began using temporary water stations so festival goers could fill up their own bottle, avoiding the mass purchase of plastic bottled water. She’d also like reusable or washable plates used at the festival, but says current state law mandates single use disposable dishware for temporary vendors. “If only they (the Fairgounds) would get solar-powered golf carts…”A woman on a mission, indeed.
