NEVADA CITY — KVMR 89.5 Community Radio will hoist a 35-foot tower onto its new building Tuesday, Oct. 28, starting about 10:15 a.m. The radio station and the nearby Nevada Theatre have collaborated to build an 8,000-square-foot structure directly behind the theater that creates a new home for the award-winning station and adds needed backstage space to the historic theater. The steel radio tower was built off-site by local contractor Dave Albanese, with laser-cut steel mesh custom-made by RGB of Auburn. The call letters for the station, “89.5 KVMR” are displayed on the upper portion of the tower. The new home of KVMR will feature radio broadcast and production studios, offices and a performance studio that doubles as a community room.
