Only this time it’ll be the San Francisco Bay Area folk duo Spark & Whisper making their local concert debut 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sundayin the KVMR Community Room and, once again, a live radio broadcast to boot. “Plus they made a major splash at the Folk Alliance regional conference last fall,” notes Laurie of an organization in the forefront of acoustic and folk music booking, management and promotion. In his honor, KVMR will present “The Nonviolent Path of Cesar Chavez,” an hour-long conversational special during noon hour on, yes, Chavez Day (12 p.m. Thursday, and available afterwards at archive.kvmr.org until June). Archival comments from Chavez himself are included, along with comments made by President Barack Obama at the dedication of the Cesar Chavez National Monument in 2012. Maybe that’ll help mold the Chavez Day image.
