In two 20-minute interviews, both gentlemen spoke about the worrying degree of local support that terrorists are able to avail of. Colonel Shukla spoke about how they are fed, housed and often guided by local Kashmiris. Mr Dulat spoke about the local support they get in places like Surankot as well as parts of Poonch and Rajouri. Colonel Shukla spoke at length about the fencing done along the Line of Control which he says, at best, can deter 70-80% of the terrorists. He pointed out that whilst that was considered effective in 2005, when the fence was first erected, today it's inadequate and we need better and improved fencing.
