David Shield’s earliest memories include Saturdays at KIRO AM 710 in Seattle, where his father, writer and broadcaster John R. Shield would bring his kids, giving their mom a break. In high school, the electronics class turned out to be a thin disguise for a radio station – KNHC FM. Community radio and music were never far away – David helped start the KNHC Board of Directors in 2004. At about that time, David started listening more closely to KVMR, and in 2021, he joined the KVMR Board of Directors. “Leading the KVMR Board of Directors and serving this wonderful community is a privilege.”
