On Monday, February 3, 2025 Stephen O'Neil Kirk of Hallettsville, Texas passed away at the age of 72 years. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Carl & Patsy Sue Kirk. Steve attended Tarrant County Junior College until being hired as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service at age 20. He was a hard-working and dedicated employee, working for the Postal Service for 35 years and retiring at age 55. Steve was dedicated to his Christian faith and his family. Steve enjoyed sports, coaching his two sons in youth baseball, attending practices and games and even played church softball for many years. Steve served many years in the church in various capacities as music director, sound equipment operator, lawn maintenance and other areas of service. Steve enjoyed working on the family farm doing various projects, taking care of his cows and deer management. He and Ginger moved to Hallettsville six years ago to be closer to family. Steve was a man of integrity who left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He is survived by Ginger, his wife of 51 years. Son Barrett & wife Nicole, son John & wife Maranda. Five grandchildren: Jake Kirk, Linley Kirk, Mabrey Kirk, Hudson Kirk & Hyland Kirk. Brother Eddie Kirk & sister Lynda Timmerman as well as extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Kirk, brother Robbie Timmerman and wife Cheryl, parents Marvin & Patsy Timmerman and Carl Kirk. A Celebration of Steve's life will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Hallettsville, where he & Ginger are members.
