It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Augustus (Al) Byrnes of Emerald Bay.Al, born in Carlisle, MS, was the son of Marguerite and Burton Byrnes, and was one of five children. At the age of 16 he began attending Belhaven College, where he met the love of his life, Tina Fairleigh.Al and Tina were married and moved to Pascagoula. His family moved to Athens because "it was beautiful."They stayed involved in their girls' activities, serving as leaders in the UMYF and Young Life. Al relished finally having boys when he got Bob, Bryon and Michael as sons-in-law.Moving to the Tyler area was something they did for themselves upon gaining an empty nest.Al was welcomed to heaven by his parents, his oldest brother, Burt, and his grandson, Drew Hoffman. He's survived by his wife,Tina, and his daughters Elizabeth Hoffman, Kristen Cummins, and Parrish Bruner."Aah" was beloved by his grandchildren, Katherine and Hallie Hoffman and Mason and Isabela Bruner (both serving in the U.S. Army). On April 5, a service will take place at Emerald Bay Community Church in Bullard at 1:00.The service will be live streamed @ facebook.com/emeraldbaychurch In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Emerald Bay CC, any Young Life chapter, or by treating a service member to a meal. The family would love to know your special memories of Al at AlByrnesRemembered@gmail.com
